If you own or lease a Class Vehicle as of August 30, 2019, or previously owned or leased a Class Vehicle before that date, then you may be eligible for payment. Payments for original and sole owners of the vehicles range from $518.40 to $2,332.80. To receive payment, you must submit the completed Claim Form with necessary documentation to the Claim Administrator no later than 30 days after the Settlement receives final approval. Under the currently proposed schedule, that would mean a deadline no later than March 29, 2020 if filing online, or postmarked by March 29, 2020 if filing by mail. Claim Forms submitted after the deadline will not be considered.



How to File Online:

To successfully file online, you will need to be able to provide your contact and vehicle information, including the VIN,and supporting documentation to prove your Claim. Please gather all supporting documents as needed (see the table below for the total list). You will not be able to save and come back later. Documents should be clear readable copies, no more than 20MB in size, and in one of the following formats: jpg, jpeg, gif, tif, tiff, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, pdf, zip, txt, mht, rtf, msg, eml.

How to File by Mail:

To file by mail, first download a copy of the Claim Form here, and a copy of the Release here. Next, fill out the Claim Form as completely as you can, attach any copies of documentation to prove your Claim (see the table below for the total list), and sign and date your Claim and Release. Then, mail your Claim Form, Release, and documentation to:

Please Note: If you have more than one eligible Class Vehicle, you must submit a separate Claim Form for each vehicle. If you need to file a claim for more than 10 vehicles, please contact the Claims Administrator at info@VWmpgSettlement.com for assistance in filing your Claim.



Documentation:

To file a claim, documentation is required to be included with your Claim Form. Documentation should be clear readable copies of the original as documentation will not be returned to you. Before you start, please review this table to ensure you have the correct documentation, as the requirements vary based on the ownership or leaseholder status of the vehicle.

  • One of the following: Purchase agreement, bill of sale, title, registration from time of purchase, DMV registration history, or financing agreement reflecting VIN and purchase date of the vehicle. If the vehicle was purchased from a lease, please also include the documents listed in the “Former Lessee” section with your submission.

    AND

  • Proof of vehicle registration as of August 30, 2019.
Former Owner
(Sold before August 30, 2019)
  • One of the following: Purchase agreement, bill of sale, title, registration from time of purchase, DMV registration history, or financing agreement reflecting VIN and purchase date of the vehicle. If the vehicle was purchased from a lease, please also include the documents listed in the “Former Leaseholder of Vehicle” section with your submission.

    AND

  • Sale agreement reflecting sale date.
Current Lessee
(Leased as of August 30, 2019)
  • Lease contract or proof of monthly lease payment reflecting VIN and date of lease agreement.

    AND

  • Proof of vehicle registration as of August 30, 2019.
Former Lessee
(Lease terminated before August 30, 2019, and did not purchase off lease)
  • Lease contract or proof of first lease payment reflecting VIN and start date of lease agreement.

    AND

  • Proof of final lease payment, lease termination agreement or lease completion letter reflecting end date of lease agreement.
